This handmade Japanese Katana sword is forged in the spirit of the Samurai, combining traditional techniques with modern precision. Made from 1095 high carbon steel, this katana embodies strength, sharpness, and reliability, making it suitable for martial artists, practitioners of Iaido and Kenjutsu, as well as collectors who appreciate the artistry of Japanese swords.
Blade Craftsmanship
Steel Material: Forged from 1095 high carbon steel, known for excellent hardness and edge retention. This steel type is highly regarded for functional swords that hold a razor-sharp edge.
Forging Process: Hand-forged, heat-treated, tempered, and oil-quenched for durability. The blade has been polished to a mirror finish, enhancing both its beauty and cutting efficiency.
Design:
Shinogi-Zukuri geometry – the classic samurai sword profile.
BO HI groove – reduces overall weight, improves balance, and produces a crisp “tachikaze” (whistle sound) when swung.
Yokote line – a distinct separation at the tip, representing proper katana geometry.
Cutting edge (Ha) – extremely sharp (can be customized to unsharpened).
While this blade does not feature a visible hamon, the heat treatment ensures a hard cutting edge with a resilient spine.
Dragon-Themed Mountings (Koshirae)
Every detail of the mounting has been carefully selected to honor traditional aesthetics while emphasizing a dragon motif, a symbol of strength, wisdom, and protection in Japanese culture.
Tsuba (Guard): Alloy guard featuring Oriental dragon design.
Fuchi (Sleeve) & Kashira (Pommel): Matching alloy dragon fittings.
Menuki (Handle Ornaments): Dragon ornaments under the wrapping.
Habaki & Seppa (Blade Collar & Spacers): Brass, providing durability and a secure fit.
Handle (Tsuka) & Wrapping
Tsuka Length: 27 cm (10.6 inches)
Wrapping (Tsuka-Ito): Black synthetic silk, tightly bound in Hineri-Maki style for grip and durability.
Rayskin (Samegawa): Genuine natural white rayskin panels beneath the wrap.
Tang Construction: Full tang with two bamboo mekugi (pegs) securing the blade for safe use.
Saya (Scabbard)
Material: Hardwood
Finish: Black matte, understated yet elegant.
Sageo (Cord): Black synthetic silk, traditionally tied for carrying and securing the sword.
