The Blade: Premium High-Carbon T10 Steel
The backbone of this weapon is forged from ultra-tough T10 tool steel, highly praised in traditional sword making for its exceptional carbon content, hardness, and wear resistance. This blade is meticulously tempered and oil-quenched to maximize resilience, then finished with an exquisite mirror polish that reflects light beautifully across its sleek surface.
Built in the traditional Shinogi-Zukuri shape, the blade incorporates a clean geometric Yokote (tip point line) and a single Hi (groove/fuller) running down the length. This fuller significantly reduces overall weight, improves structural balance, and produces a crisp, audible whistling feedback (Tachikaze) with every swing.
The Handle: Vibrant Contrast & Reliable Grip
The Tsuka (handle) provides a rock-solid, slip-resistant grip required for demanding physical forms. It is wrapped with white genuine rayskin (Samegawa) and tightly bound in red synthetic silk Tsuka-Ito cord utilizing the authentic Hineri-Maki style. The handle core is securely anchored to the full tang by two traditional bamboo Mekugi (pegs) for maximum structural integrity.
Adorning the hilt is a beautiful small flower motif alloy Tsuba (guard), complemented by a matching alloy Fuchi (sleeve), Kashira (pommel), and Menuki (ornament). The blade collar (Habaki) and spacers (Seppa) are forged from solid brass and finished in a sleek silver color to match the mirror-polished blade perfectly.
The Scabbard: Brilliant White Glossy Finish
This katana comes paired with an ultra-clean white glossy Saya (scabbard) crafted from durable hardwood. The polished, reflective white surface creates a stunning contrast against the deep red synthetic silk Sageo cord tied elegantly around the kurigata, matching the handle wrap for a unified, eye-catching design.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1: Is this T10 steel Katana fully functional or just a display model?
A: This is a real, battle-ready, fully functional samurai sword. Handforged from ultra-tough T10 high-carbon tool steel and oil-quenched, it has a true full-tang construction built to safely handle live cutting practice (Tameshigiri) on targets like bamboo and tatami mats.
Q2: What are the main benefits of choosing T10 tool steel over carbon steel?
A: T10 is a high-speed tool steel with a very high carbon content (around 1.0%). It is legendary for its durability, toughness, and superior wear resistance compared to standard carbon steels, allowing the edge to stay sharp significantly longer during active use.
Q3: Can I request this custom Katana with a blunt (unsharp) edge for safe form practice?
A: Yes, absolutely. While it leaves our workshop with a razor-sharp cutting edge, our masters can craft it with a completely blunt/unsharp edge for safe Iaido practice, cosplay, or home training. Simply add your instructions in the order note or contact us immediately after checking out.
Q4: How do I clean and maintain the white glossy Saya?
A: The hardwood scabbard is coated in a premium glossy protective lacquer that guards the wood from moisture and hand grease. To clean it, simply wipe the surface down with a dry, soft microfiber cloth to keep the high-gloss shine clean and fingerprint-free.
Q5: What standard accessories are included with my Hanbon Forge order?
A: Every customized order is safely packed and shipped with a free protective cotton sword storage bag alongside an official Certificate of Authenticity verifying its forged metallurgical specifications.
