Experience Pure Form: Hand-Forged Japanese Shirasaya Tanto with Clay Tempered 1095 Carbon Steel Blade
Discover the elegant simplicity and formidable strength of our Hand-Made Japanese Shirasaya Tanto, a true testament to traditional Samurai sword craftsmanship by HanBon Forge. This fully functional Tanto is meticulously hand-forged from premium 1095 high carbon steel, known for its exceptional hardness and edge retention.
Authentic Clay Tempering & Distinctive Hamon: The blade undergoes a special clay tempering process, a revered ancient Japanese method that creates a differential hardening. This results in a stunning, natural hamon (temper line) along the cutting edge, showcasing the blade's genuine craftsmanship and superior performance. Featuring a classic O-kissaki (point) and full tang construction, this Tanto delivers exceptional balance and durability. Designed without a traditional tsuba (guard) or bo-hi (groove), its refined form embodies the essence of the Shirasaya style. The habaki is a single piece of high-quality brass.
Elegant Shirasaya Design & Versatile Use: The Shirasaya mount highlights the blade's beauty, with both the handle (Tsuka) and sheath (Saya) crafted from exquisite red African Rosewood. The full tang is securely pinned within the handle by two genuine bull horn mekugi, ensuring structural integrity. The saya also features a protective buffalo horn fitting at the koiguchi (mouth), which has been hardened for durability.
This Japanese Shirasaya Tanto is an ideal choice for Iaido and Kenjutsu practitioners, offering authentic feel and balance. It's also perfect for collectors seeking a minimalist yet powerful piece, an impressive display item, or a unique gift for martial arts enthusiasts.
