The black synthetic silk Hineri-Maki handle wrapping, antiqued genuine rayskin, and black piano finish saya create a clean and understated appearance, while the wave-themed fittings add a distinctive traditional touch.

T10 Steel Blade with Genuine Notare Hamon

This sword features a T10 steel blade with a traditional Shinogi-Zukuri profile. T10 steel is a high-carbon tool steel commonly used for katana blades because it can be heat treated to achieve a combination of hardness and toughness suitable for sword making.

The blade has been clay tempered and oil quenched to produce a genuine Notare Hamon. The gently undulating temper line gives the blade a flowing appearance while emphasizing the traditional character of the katana.

The blade is supplied with a very sharp cutting edge by default, although an unsharp version can be requested as a customization.

Traditional Shinogi-Zukuri Blade Profile

This katana uses the classic Shinogi-Zukuri blade shape and features a clearly defined Yokote with a Chu-Kissaki. Unlike katana with a fuller, this model has no Bo-Hi, giving the blade a solid and traditional appearance.

The blade measures 70.50 cm (27.76 inches) in Nagasa, with a Motohaba of 3.20 cm (1.26 inches) and a Sakihaba of 2.20 cm (0.87 inches). The Sori is approximately 2.10 cm (0.83 inches), giving the sword a balanced curved katana profile.

Hazuya Polishing and Handmade Finish

After forging and heat treatment, the blade receives Hazuya polishing. This traditional polishing method helps reveal the surface character of the blade and allows the Hamon to remain visually prominent.

The katana is hand forged, hand polished, and hand assembled. Its construction follows a traditional handmade sword-making approach, with attention given to the blade, mounting, and final assembly.

Wave-Themed Katana Fittings

The fittings of this katana follow a coordinated wave theme. The iron tsuba features a wave design, while the brass fuchi, kashira, and menuki continue the same visual theme.

The handle uses black synthetic silk in a traditional Hineri-Maki wrapping style. Beneath the wrapping is antiqued genuine rayskin over a hard wood core. Two bamboo mekugi secure the full tang within the handle.

Black Piano Finish Saya

The katana is paired with a black piano finish saya for a smooth, polished appearance. A black sageo completes the scabbard and maintains the simple black-and-brass color scheme of the sword.

The sword also features a copper habaki and copper seppa, providing the supporting components between the blade and its mounting.
