Handmade Japanese Sword Set – Katana, Wakizashi & Tanto
This matching three-piece Japanese sword set brings together a Katana, Wakizashi and Tanto in one coordinated design. Each blade is hand forged from 1060 high carbon steel, oil quenched for reliable toughness, hand polished, and constructed with a full tang for a secure traditional-style assembly.
Designed as a complete matching collection, all three swords share the same mounting style, handle wrap and saya finish. The result is a visually balanced set suitable for collectors, martial arts enthusiasts, gifts and traditional Japanese sword displays.
Instead of purchasing three unrelated swords separately, this set provides a Katana, Wakizashi and Tanto with coordinated fittings and finishes, creating a unified presentation from the longest blade to the shortest.
1060 High Carbon Steel Blades
The blades are forged from 1060 high carbon steel, a well-established sword steel valued for its practical balance of toughness, strength and maintainability.
Each blade undergoes oil quenching and hand polishing. A long bo-hi runs along the blade, reducing unnecessary weight while contributing to the responsive handling traditionally associated with grooved Japanese-style blades.
The blades feature a full tang construction extending through the handle and are secured with two bamboo mekugi. This allows the sword to use a traditional removable mounting system rather than a purely decorative fixed construction.
Matching Traditional-Style Koshirae
Each sword in the set is assembled with matching Japanese-style mountings to maintain a consistent appearance across the Katana, Wakizashi and Tanto.
- Matching Musashi-style tsuba
- Brass habaki
- Traditional-style seppa
- White genuine samegawa panels
- Coffee-brown synthetic ito
- Tight Hineri-Maki handle wrap
- Decorative menuki beneath the ito
- Two bamboo mekugi securing each tsuka
- Matching reddish-brown and black speckled saya
- Coordinated sageo

Handmade by HanBon Forge
HanBon Forge swords are individually assembled and finished rather than produced as purely decorative replicas. Attention is given to blade geometry, polishing, handle wrapping, fitting alignment and the relationship between the blade, tsuka and saya.
Because these swords are handmade, small variations in polish, wood grain, wrapping and fitting finish are normal and are part of the character of a handcrafted sword.
If you like the three-piece sword concept but prefer another tsuba, saya, tsuka-ito color or mounting style, HanBon Forge also offers custom Japanese sword options. You can create a coordinated Katana, Wakizashi and Tanto set using your preferred fittings and colors.
