Handmade T10 Steel Katana Sword – Shinogi-Zukuri, Musashi Silver Fittings, Mirror Polish

Available Options
This hand-forged T10 steel katana is a finely crafted Japanese samurai sword built for collectors, martial artists, and practitioners of iaido or tameshigiri. Forged using traditional methods, the blade undergoes a hand-polishing process with mirror finish, resulting in a durable and sharp cutting edge.
The blade is shaped in Shinogi-Zukuri style, with a well-defined yokote and a bo-hi (groove) to reduce weight and enhance blade balance. It is full tang with dual bamboo mekugi for safety and long-term durability. Customers may also request a blunt edge for safe training.
The handle (tsuka) features black synthetic silk ito wrapped in Hineri-Maki style over genuine white rayskin (samegawa), ensuring a firm and traditional grip. The Musashi-style silver alloy tsuba and matching oriental dragon fittings (fuchi, kashira, and menuki) give the katana a powerful aesthetic.
A glossy black saya (scabbard) with matching black sageo cord completes the design. The silver-plated brass habaki and seppa secure the blade firmly within the mountings.
We also provide free engraving services for text in English, Japanese, or Chinese. Custom patterns are available for a small additional fee. For details, visit: Blade Engravings Custom Service.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q1: What is the T10 steel used in this katana?
A: T10 steel is a high-carbon tool steel known for its exceptional hardness and edge retention. When properly heat-treated, it creates a very strong and durable blade, making it an excellent choice for functional swords. Our T10 steel blades are expertly hand-forged, tempered, and oil quenched to achieve a balance of toughness and sharpness.
Q2: Is this katana a full tang sword?
A: Yes, this katana features a full tang construction, meaning the blade extends all the way through the handle. This is the traditional and strongest method of sword construction, ensuring the blade and handle are securely connected and can withstand the stresses of practice and use. The tang is secured with two bamboo mekugi pegs for added reliability.
Q3: Can I get the blade engraved with my own design?
A: We offer a free custom engraving service for text in English, Chinese, Japanese, or any other language. We can also engrave simple patterns for an additional $20 fee. For more information and to see examples of our engraving work, please visit our custom engraving service page.
Q4: Is this a battle-ready or sharp katana?
A: This katana is designed as a fully functional and battle-ready sword, delivered with a very sharp cutting edge. It is suitable for cutting practice (tameshigiri) and martial arts training. If you plan to use it for display or non-cutting practice, we can customize the blade to be unsharp upon request.
Q5: What if I want to change the color of the handle wrapping or scabbard?
A: Customization is a key feature of our swords. We can change the color and material of the handle wrapping (Tsuka-Ito), the scabbard (Saya), and the sword fittings (Tsuba, Fuchi, etc.) to your preference. Please contact us with your specific requests, and we will do our best to accommodate them. You can also browse our full range of available fittings on our website.
