1060 High Carbon Steel Katana

This handmade katana features a 1060 high carbon steel blade with a traditional Shinogi-Zukuri profile, single bohi and a defined yokote. The blade has a mirror polished finish that gives it a clean, simple appearance.

The full tang blade is secured with two bamboo mekugi. It is oil quenched and can be ordered sharp or unsharp depending on your preference.

The handle is wrapped in black leather ito over genuine red rayskin (samegawa). The red rayskin adds a strong contrast to the black wrapping and gives the handle a distinctive look.

The fittings feature a cherry blossom theme, with matching tsuba, fuchi and kashira. A bamboo motif menuki adds another traditional detail to the handle.

The saya is finished in black gloss lacquer with subtle red streaks and comes with a black sageo decorated with red dots. Brass habaki and seppa complete the mounting.
