Traditional Forging with Premium T10 Steel
This handmade Japanese samurai katana is forged using T10 high carbon steel, known for its hardness, edge retention, and durability. Through the clay tempering process, the blade develops a beautiful and natural choji hamon (clove-shaped temper line), which is not only visually striking but also symbolizes the harmony of strength and flexibility.
The blade undergoes a skilled hazuya polish, a traditional hand-polishing method that enhances the hamon and gives the surface a refined, mirror-like finish. This polishing technique reflects the centuries-old Japanese swordsmithing tradition, making this katana not just a weapon, but a work of art.
Blade Design – Balance of Function and Beauty
The katana features a single hi (bo-hi groove) along the blade. This groove reduces weight while maintaining strength, allowing for improved handling, faster swings, and an audible "tachikaze" (blade sound) during practice. With sharpness optimized for tameshigiri (test cutting), this blade offers both cutting performance and aesthetic elegance.
Blade Dimensions:
Overall Length: 103cm / 40.6"
Nagasa (Blade Length): 71cm / 27.9"
Tsuka (Handle Length): 27cm / 10.6"
Motohaba (Width at Habaki): 3.2cm
Sakihaba (Width at Yokote): 2.3cm
Kasane (Thickness at Habaki): 7.2mm
Sakikasane (Thickness at Yokote): 3mm
Sori (Curvature): 1.9cm
Handle & Tsuka-Maki Wrapping
The tsuka (handle) is carefully wrapped with genuine Japanese silk ito (black) in the hineri-maki style, reinforced with hishigami (paper wedges) for an even, diamond-shaped grip. This traditional wrapping method ensures durability during use and provides excellent comfort and control.
The handle is secured with two bamboo mekugi (pins), making it strong enough for martial arts training while maintaining historical authenticity.
Snake and Bamboo Theme – Brass & Silver Fittings
This katana features an elegant snake and bamboo theme, symbolizing wisdom, resilience, and natural harmony.
Tsuba (Handguard): Brass, designed with a lifelike snake coiling around bamboo, finely detailed to bring the theme to life.
Fuchi & Kashira (Handle Collar & Pommel): Bamboo motif, blending seamlessly with the tsuba.
Menuki (Ornaments): Bamboo design in silver color, adding subtle contrast to the handle.
Habaki & Seppa: Made of brass with deep grooves, ensuring a secure blade fit.
Each component is designed to reflect the aesthetics of nature while emphasizing balance and artistry.
Saya (Scabbard) Design
The katana comes with a black matte saya (scabbard), giving it a sleek, understated appearance. The sageo (cord) is black, complementing the handle wrapping and overall design. This subtle yet elegant saya highlights the sword’s sophistication, making it ideal for both display and practice.
