Hand Forged T10 Steel Katana with Genuine Notare Hamon and Coiled Snake Brass Fittings
This hand forged T10 steel katana combines a traditionally shaped Shinogi-Zukuri blade with a genuine Notare Hamon, white genuine rayskin, black synthetic silk wrapping, and distinctive brass snake-themed fittings. With its clean piano black saya and carefully assembled traditional construction, this Japanese sword offers a distinctive appearance for collectors, martial arts practitioners, cutting practitioners, and sword enthusiasts.
T10 Steel Katana Blade
The blade is forged from T10 steel and features a traditional Shinogi-Zukuri profile with a Chu-Kissaki and defined Yokote. The blade is full tang and has no Bo-Hi, giving the blade a solid and straightforward appearance.
The cutting edge is supplied very sharp and can also be customized to an unsharp edge upon request. The blade measures 70.50 cm (27.76 inches) in Nagasa, making it a practical size for a full-length katana.
Genuine Notare Hamon and Hazuya Polishing
This katana features a genuine Notare Hamon created through clay tempering and oil quenching. The gently undulating Notare pattern adds a traditional visual character to the blade while highlighting the transition between the hardened edge and the rest of the blade.
The blade receives Hazuya polishing, providing a traditional polished finish that allows the Hamon to be appreciated clearly. The combination of clay tempering, oil quenching, and Hazuya polishing gives the blade a classic handmade appearance.
Traditional Katana Handle
The 27.00 cm (10.63 inches) tsuka is built around a hard wood core and covered with white genuine rayskin. Black synthetic silk ito is applied in the traditional Hineri-Maki style, providing a classic contrast against the white rayskin.
The handle is secured with two bamboo mekugi. Brass habaki and seppa complete the blade-to-handle assembly, while the full tang provides the traditional internal construction expected from a handmade katana.
Coiled Snake and Bamboo Brass Fittings
One of the defining features of this katana is its matching brass fittings. The tsuba features a Coiled Snake & Bamboo Stalk design with Sukashi openwork, creating an open and detailed guard with a distinctive traditional-inspired appearance.
The snake theme continues across the brass kashira, fuchi, and menuki. The coordinated fittings give the sword a unified decorative style while adding character to the handle assembly.
Piano Black Saya
The katana is paired with a piano black finish saya and a black sageo. The simple black scabbard provides a clean background for the brass fittings and allows the snake-themed details to remain the visual focus of the sword.
The saya measures 76.00 cm (29.92 inches) in length and is designed to complement the overall proportions of the katana.
Hand Forged and Traditionally Handmade
This katana is hand forged, hand polished, and hand assembled using a traditional handmade sword production process. Each major component is assembled as part of the finished sword, from the forged blade and polished surface to the tsuka, fittings, and saya.
The sword is supplied without a Mei inscription by default, but a Mei can be added free of charge according to the buyer's request. Blade or tang engravings can also be added free of charge.
