T10 Steel Blade with Genuine Choji Hamon

The blade is forged from T10 steel in the Shinogi-Zukuri style. It features a Yokote and an O-Kissaki, while the absence of a Bo-Hi gives the blade a clean and substantial profile.

A genuine Choji Hamon is created through clay tempering followed by oil quenching. The blade receives Hazuya polishing to highlight the Hamon and the details of the polished blade surface.

Cutting Edge: The standard blade is very sharp. An unsharp version can be requested as a customization.

Traditional Hineri-Maki Handle

The Tsuka is wrapped in the traditional Hineri-Maki style over antiqued genuine rayskin and a hard wood handle core. The handle is secured with two bamboo Mekugi, while the full tang provides the traditional full-length tang construction specified for this katana.

The Tsuka fittings share the same dynamic crashing-wave theme, creating a consistent visual connection between the handle and Saya fittings.

Gold-Finished Crashing Wave Fittings

The katana features brass fittings with a vibrant gold finish. The Tsuba, Fuchi, Kashira, and Menuki are all carved with a dynamic crashing-wave motif, giving the sword a coordinated decorative theme.

Deep Burgundy Lacquered Saya

The wooden Saya features a high-gloss wine-red and deep burgundy lacquer finish with a smooth mirror-like surface. The rich color provides an elegant contrast to the gold-finished brass fittings.

An ornate gold-finished brass Kojiri provides reinforced tip protection and adds to the decorative appearance of the scabbard. The Saya also features a horn Koiguchi and brass metal Kurikata, together with a matching light tan/beige woven Sageo with long hanging ends.

Traditional Hand-Made Construction

The sword is hand forged, hand polished, and hand assembled using a traditional hand-made production process. It features a full tang, hard wood Tsuka core, genuine antiqued rayskin, two bamboo Mekugi, and brass Habaki and Seppa.

The Tang comes without a Mei by default. Engraving can be added to the blade or Tang free of charge upon buyer request.
