Hand Forged 1095 Folded Steel Katana with Bo-Hi, Mirror Polished Blade and Dancing Cranes Tsuba
This handmade Japanese katana combines a hand forged 1095 folded steel blade with traditional sword construction and a distinctive decorative design. The blade features a Shinogi-Zukuri profile, Bo-Hi extending through the Kissaki, a defined Yokote, and a Chu-Kissaki tip.
Unlike katana designed to display a visible Hamon, this blade is specified with no Hamon and features full-blade tempering, oil quenching, and a mirror polish. The polished surface gives the blade a clean, reflective appearance that complements the black and silver-white decorative fittings.
1095 Folded Steel Katana Blade
The blade is made from 1095 folded steel and follows a traditional hand forged production process. Its Shinogi-Zukuri shape gives the blade a classic Japanese katana profile, while the Bo-Hi runs through the Kissaki for a distinctive fuller design.
The blade has a very sharp cutting edge and can be customized to an unsharp version upon request. It is fully tempered and oil quenched, followed by mirror polishing for a bright and highly reflective blade surface.
The blade includes a Yokote and Chu-Kissaki, creating a clearly defined transition between the main blade and tip. The tang is constructed as a full tang.
Clean Mirror Polished Blade with No Hamon
This katana is designed without a visible Hamon. Instead, the blade uses full-blade tempering and a mirror polishing finish to create a clean and reflective appearance.
The mirror-polished finish highlights the folded steel construction and gives the blade a modern, refined visual character while retaining its traditional Japanese sword form.
Traditional Katana Handle
The tsuka is wrapped in black synthetic silk using the traditional Hineri-Maki style. Under the wrapping is white genuine rayskin Samegawa, supported by a hard wood handle core.
Two bamboo Mekugi are used to secure the handle assembly to the full tang. The combination of black handle wrapping and white genuine rayskin creates a strong contrast against the decorative metal fittings.
Dancing Cranes and Butterfly Fittings
The alloy Tsuba features a Dancing Cranes under Pine theme, adding a traditional Japanese decorative element to the sword. The crane and pine design gives the guard a distinctive appearance while complementing the overall fittings.
The Fuchi and Kashira feature matching butterfly-themed designs, while the Menuki use a small Plum Blossoms theme. Together, these fittings create a combination of cranes, pine, butterflies, and plum blossoms across the handle.
The Habaki and Seppa are made from brass, completing the traditional mounting components of the katana.
Glossy Black Saya with Silver-White Floral Motifs
The saya features a glossy black base decorated with silver-white painted floral burst motifs. The contrast between the dark lacquered-looking surface and the light floral decoration gives the scabbard a distinctive appearance.
A two-tone black and white sageo with a speckled or dotted pattern completes the saya. The contrasting cord coordinates with the black handle wrapping and the black-and-silver color scheme of the complete sword.
Hand Forged and Traditionally Handmade
This katana is produced through a traditional handmade process that includes hand forging, hand polishing, and hand assembly. The combination of traditional construction and decorative fittings makes this sword suitable for collectors and Japanese sword enthusiasts.
The sword is supplied with a free sword bag and sword certificate. A Mei inscription can be added to the tang free of charge upon the buyer's request, and blade or tang engravings can also be added free of charge.
