Jian swords are among the earliest sword types in China and are closely associated with Chinese mythology. This Chinese jian is shenshe jian(神舍剑) and made of Clay tempered Damascus folded steel. There is beautiful grain pattern (HADA) with visible layers you can see on this sword blade because of handmade folding process. There is a visible temper line (hamon) on the blade beacuse of clay tempered, it can give hardness to the blade’s edge and flexibility to its spine by using the differential hardening process. Clay tempered sword is more resistant and durable. This sword features silver & gold color pure brass fittings in hollow carving dragon design. The scabbard and handle are all made of black ebony wood.
