Hand Forged 1095 Folded Steel Katana with Genuine Gunome Hamon and Dark Blue Wave Fittings
This is a traditional handmade Japanese katana featuring a hand-forged 1095 folded steel blade, genuine Gunome Hamon, and an elegant dark blue wave-themed mounting. The blade is clay tempered and oil quenched, then finished with Hazuya polishing to bring out the natural details of the steel and Hamon.
The katana is built in the classic Shinogi-Zukuri style with a Chu-Kissaki, Yokote, and Bo-Hi with Soe-Hi. A dark blue synthetic silk Hineri-Maki handle, genuine black rayskin, brass wave-themed fittings, and a glossy dark blue Saya complete the traditional Japanese appearance.
Hand Forged 1095 Folded Steel Blade
The blade is hand forged from 1095 folded steel and clay tempered before being oil quenched. This process creates a genuine Gunome Hamon with a distinctive temper line along the cutting edge.
The blade features Shinogi-Zukuri geometry, a defined Yokote, and a Chu-Kissaki tip. The Bo-Hi and Soe-Hi grooves add traditional detail to the blade. The cutting edge is supplied very sharp, while an unsharp version can be requested as a customization.
Hazuya Polished Blade with Genuine Gunome Hamon
The blade is finished with Hazuya polishing, a traditional polishing method that helps reveal the Hamon and surface characteristics of the blade. The genuine Gunome Hamon provides the blade with the distinctive appearance associated with traditionally inspired Japanese swords.
Dark Blue Tsuka with Brass Wave Fittings
The handle is wrapped with dark blue synthetic silk in Hineri-Maki style. Genuine black rayskin is used beneath the wrapping, while the handle core is made from hard wood.
The Tsuba, Fuchi, Kashira, and Menuki are all made from brass and feature a matching wave theme. Brass Habaki and Seppa complete the mounting. The handle is secured with two bamboo Mekugi, and the sword features full tang construction.
Glossy Dark Blue Saya
The katana comes with a glossy dark blue Saya and matching dark blue Sageo. The deep blue color creates a strong contrast with the brass wave-themed fittings and gives the sword a clean and elegant overall appearance.
Fully Handmade and Customizable
This is a traditional handmade sword with a hand-forged, hand-polished, and hand-assembled construction. The standard Tang does not have an inscription, but a Mei can be added free of charge upon request.
Blade or Tang engravings can also be added free of charge. The sword can be customized according to your preferences. If you would like to change a particular fitting, accessory, or color, please contact us before ordering.
