Hand Forged T10 Steel Katana with Genuine Notare Hamon and Plum Blossom Fittings
This hand forged T10 steel katana combines a traditional Shinogi-Zukuri blade with a genuine Notare Hamon, white genuine rayskin, red synthetic silk wrapping, and elegant plum blossom fittings. Finished with a deep piano dark red saya and matching red sageo, this handmade Japanese sword offers a distinctive combination of traditional katana details and refined decorative styling.
T10 Steel Katana Blade
The blade is made from T10 steel and features a traditional Shinogi-Zukuri shape, a defined Yokote, and a Chu-Kissaki tip. The blade has no Bo-Hi, maintaining a solid and clean blade profile.
The cutting edge is supplied very sharp and can be customized to an unsharp edge upon request. The Nagasa measures 70.50 cm (27.76 inches), giving the katana the proportions of a full-length Japanese sword.
Genuine Notare Hamon and Clay Tempering
This katana features a genuine Notare Hamon produced through clay tempering and oil quenching. The flowing, gently undulating Hamon creates a distinctive pattern along the hardened edge and gives the blade a traditional handmade appearance.
The blade is finished with Hazuya polishing. This traditional polishing method complements the Hamon and enhances the visual character of the polished blade.
Red Silk Hineri-Maki and White Genuine Rayskin
The 27.00 cm (10.63 inch) tsuka is constructed around a hard wood core and covered with white genuine rayskin. Red synthetic silk is wrapped in the traditional Hineri-Maki style, creating a strong visual contrast between the red ito and white rayskin.
Two bamboo mekugi secure the handle assembly. The full tang construction is complemented by brass habaki and seppa, completing the traditional katana assembly.
Plum Blossom and Cherry Blossom Branch Tsuba
The tsuba features a Plum Blossom and Cherry Blossom Branch design with Sukashi openwork. The openwork construction gives the guard a detailed appearance while allowing the floral pattern to stand out clearly.
The plum blossom theme continues across the brass kashira, fuchi, and menuki. These coordinated fittings create a consistent floral design throughout the handle.
Piano Dark Red Saya
The sword is paired with a piano dark red finish saya and matching red sageo. The deep red finish complements the red handle wrapping and brass plum blossom fittings, creating a coordinated appearance when the katana is displayed in its scabbard.
The saya measures 76.00 cm (29.92 inches) in length and is designed to match the proportions of the 70.50 cm blade.
Hand Forged and Traditionally Handmade
The sword is hand forged, hand polished, and hand assembled as part of a traditional handmade sword production process. The combination of the forged T10 steel blade, traditional blade shape, hand-applied polishing, and individually assembled fittings gives the finished katana its handmade character.
The sword does not include a Mei inscription by default. A Mei can be added free of charge according to the buyer's request. Blade or tang engravings can also be added free of charge.
