First of all, customer service response is very very nice, answer quickly for my needs. My WAKIZASHI was so beautiful, HAMON was beautiful, SORI was my expectation, TUKA fittings were tight enough and not loosen. SAMEGAWA has OYATUBU which large dot on outside of TSUKA, this was beyond my expectation. My family crest on the HABAKI is beautiful. This WAKIZASHI is my guard sword and will be taken over to my son.

I received my custom katana today, and I would like to say that my expectations have been greatly exceeded! It's an absolutely beautiful sword, especially for the price. Everything fits perfectly, and nothing rattles or is loose. The saya is actually bordering on too tight, though some use will fix that. The sword is amazing. If you have a chance, please let the swordsmith know that they did an amazing job on the blade. If I want another sword in the future, I will definitely be a returning customer. Thanks again.

I really appreciate the ability to customize products. I designed a wakizashi and the process was terrific, with good communication from order thru delivery. The weight, balance, and materials are excellent, and the workmanship is very, very impressive for the price. It's got a great edge on it too! For comparison. My first custom Wakizashi. I recieved it 9 Days after i ordered it.(And i am living in Germany). The friendly Support answered all my Questions quick and very Friendly. The Wakizashi is made in a very good Quality and is very Sharp with a mirror finished blade and a beautiful clear Hamon. I can't wait to start my next Custom Sword.

To Yao and Everyone at the HanBon Forge Team, I received my katana yesterday and worked out with it today, and I have to tell you that when I opened the box and took the sword out I was completely in awe of the beauty and craftsmanship of the sword and the saya. The sword, the saya and even the sword bag were PERFECT!!!!! But, the best part was this morning when I worked out with it. It was perfectly balanced for me. The tsuka was so BEAUTIFUL and it fit me PERFECTLY. The blade was AMAZING and the sword was so tight and awesome that just training it lifted my soul to a place that I do not have the words to describe. I am not trying to be overly dramatic here. I have several different katanas that I have purchased during the past 30 years. Hanwei, Ronin Katana, SBG, Dynasty Forge and 3 katanas from Master Bladesmith Jim Hriouslas who I admire. respect and call friend. And, NONE of them even come close to the craftsmanship and beauty of the katana that you brought to life for me. It was like you took the ideas of what I wanted, elevated those thoughts to a sword that was more than anything that I could have dreamed or wished for. I messaged them on a custom order for a wider blade ko katana with heavy niku. they delivered the sword in a very good time, the niku was done correctly, the fittings are all tight and neat. the heat treat on the blade is high quality and the sword feels great to move around and swing despite it's heavier weight. The Saya fit is also solid. I'm very happy with the sword for the money, Yao at hanbon was very pleasant to deal with and always answered emails and questions.

I am on my 3rd sword. I have 2 practice swords and one that is coming in sharp. Yao and his craftsmen are great to work with. I will say the swords produced are of good quality. Being in America it is hard to find swords that are made for tall people, hanbon has made me several to my specifications. If you are tall, or need a size outside of standard (last larger local tournament all competitors save one were using hanbon swords - younger females had custom swords that were a little shorter) The premade swords are also very good looking, I have never bought a premade but if they are anything like the custom they are very nice. Sure they are not made from traditional Japanese materials, but price to performance you can't beat them.

I ordered a custom Katana for my son's birthday. I had concerns about the turn around time so I ordered kind of early. Sword was completed in just a few days and an email was sent to me with pictures of the completed project. Within a couple of hours of me approving the work it was shipped and arrived in about 12 days. When it arrived I checked it over and was blown away by the high quality. 5 stars. I am definitely going to order more from them.

Beautiful sword. Will order again from Mr. Yao soon. Parts are mass produced so you won't get anything expectacularly unique. Regardless, the parts catalog is so extensive that you will most certainly find something to your liking. I believe some true customization could be possible if you message Mr. Yao beforehand. I've seen some swords with stuff outside of the standard menu of items. Do have in mind that custom parts will delay production. Shipping was extremely quick.

Dear Hanbonforge, I just received my custom Nodachi and I am completely blown away by the quality of your workmanship. As a sword enthusiast, I had high expectations for this sword, but you have surpassed them all and the price to quality ratio of your products is unmatched by anything I’ve seen. The blade is beautifully crafted and has a fantastic curve, just like I requested. The hamon is simply exquisite and the boshi is perfectly executed. The tsuka is tightly wrapped with the ito and the menuki fit comfortably in my hand. The saya is also well-crafted and fits the blade perfectly. The fittings are absolutely stunning and complement the overall design of the sword perfectly. The engravings on blade and saya are simply beautiful. I was also impressed by the exceptional customer service provided by Mr. Yao. He was extremely nice and helpful throughout the whole process, from the initial consultation to the final delivery of the sword. Some 40 years ago I had a faux ivory carved dragon handle Katana, evidently someone else decided they liked it better than I did. Ever since then I've been searching for the "right" fit to replace it. Jump forward 40 years and I ran across HanBon Forge and I saw just what I wanted. Being on a limited income it took me almost 4 months total (saving, etc.) to be able to afford them. I decided, that if I was going to be replacing the lost Katana, that I wanted a complete set. So, I purchased a wall mounted tri-blade stand, and customized Katana, Wakizashi, and Tanto. All 3 of the blades are hand sharpened, tempered folded steel clay, with a dragon theme the blades on one side have an engraved dragon (as does the Saya) and on the other side has my name in Japanese. I have attached pictures of these beautiful works of art. The Saya has a black matte finish on it, and I wanted the stand to sort of match them. The first picture is the stand as advertised on their website, followed by my version (yes, I got the bottom rail upside down but I like it), followed by the blades mounted in the stand and the last two pictures are of the engravings on the blades. They are now my pride and joy and will be cherished forever. I bow to the masters at Hanbon Forge for the fantastic and incredible craftsmanship.

I received the sword today. It is a 9260 spring steel katana. Very tightly made and beautiful craftsmanship. I honed it lightly just to give it a little extra bite, but the blade is sharp and beautiful. There is no hamon because spring steel is rarely clay tempered, but that does not take any beauty away from the sword. The ray skin on the tsuka is as real as it comes and the sword cuts quite well. I’m looking forward to testing it on some different targets. 10/10 quality product and customer service. Yao was extremely helpful every step of the way and really cares about customer satisfaction. I know it’s very difficult to get katanas from Japan now, but this one honestly feels like it came from there. Great work! I will be using this service again.
